Martha Johnson's interest in the Spanish Colonial art form of  "retablo" was recently showcased in her creation of  fifteen paintings depicting the Stations of the Cross for St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Conifer, Colorado. All of her retablos, including the portraits of various saints are painted in oils on wood or metal. Her background as a jewelry teacher stands her in good stead in the construction of the one-of-a-kind hand-tooled frames that hold each retablo.
